I'm beyond grateful for the assistance that Floyd and Dr. Manning were able to offer this evening. Caring not only for my pup, but also for my concerns as well. May God bless them and the wonderful staff at the front desk. Many many thanks!Posted on Google![]()

I would like to take the time to recognize the caring staff here at Night Watch. The service care coordinator, Kelly and Dr. Gladman were so caring and compassionate on what was otherwise a terrible night for my family and I. I would like to thank you all for helping my boy. Dr. Manning has a very well managed, beautiful clinic and I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone in need.Posted on Google![]()

Unfortunately, this wasn’t my first visit to Night Watch, but fortunately, they continue to exceed expectations. The staff is truly amazing and helped my baby girl feel so much better. Their flexible payment options made things much easier during a stressful time, and every team member I interacted with was kind and compassionate. A special thank-you to Floyd, who stayed with my girl from start to finish and made me feel completely at ease throughout the entire process. I’m so grateful to the entire Night Watch team for the exceptional care they provide.Posted on Google![]()

I brought home a 12 week old Shih tzu puppy a week and a half ago. My puppy woke up a couple days ago and wasn't able to pee or poop. I rushed him to my vet and they didn't find anything wrong. He started vomiting at the vet's office. I brought him home early afternoon and by 7pm the vomiting had increased and no pee relief, little bits of bathroom ability. I rushed him to Nightwatch and they assisted immediately. Long story short, he ended up with a parasite and a bladder stone which was in urethra and blocking his ability to pee. The vet was able to move stone back to bladder as he is under 3 lbs and surgery would be last result. If it wasn't for Dr. G and Susan, my puppy would not have survived. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to both of you for saving my sweet boy. Not out of the woods yet as working on dissolving the stone but he is alive and well for now, happy little pup. I highly recommend this place for emergencies, kind, caring, loving people. Thank you again so very much!Posted on Google![]()

We are grateful for Dr. Manning and his team for saving our cat, Stanley. We brought him in late Saturday evening because he was not acting like his usual self. As soon as we arrived, we were met with compassion and care. Stanley had developed a UTI that led to a blockage which they were able to relieve. Floyd also took the time to discuss our options and answered any questions we had for follow up care. We are happy to have Stanley home. Thank you!Posted on Google![]()

I cannot say enough good things about my experience here recently. Everyone there made me feel at ease. I brought my German Shepherd, who can be quite dramatic. If you've ever owned a GSD, you know what I'm talking about. Susan's own experience with GSDs helped me to trust she understood my boy and would take good care of him. Floyd has the friendliest, calmest bedside manner. I was immediately at ease when he came into the room. He was so patient with my boy. He immediately saw what caused the problem that had me bringing in my boy. Dr. Manning was wonderful and did a great job taking care of my boy. He, too, has the friendliest, kindest bedside manner. I know it would be ok to leave my boy there overnight. I'm so very grateful they were able to help me and my boy Diego.Posted on Google![]()

Beyond impressed with all of the staff at Night Watch. I came in just before 5am with my 13 year old Weimaraner. I knew it was an end of life situation going in. I can't thank you guys enough for the level of care and compassion you showed for me and my dog. Thank you for letting me be with him the entire time.

Meet Dr. Manning & Our Team
Animal Emergency and Critical Care Hospital San Antonio
Our Medical Director, Doctor John Manning, has 30 years in Emergency Veterinarian Medicine. He has been trained to perform life-saving interventions for emergency situations and critical illnesses in pets. Doctor Manning is surrounded by a technician staff that is highly trained in caring for patients needing Emergency and Critical Care. Night Watch Elite Animal Emergency is open from 6 pm – 8 am every day except Tuesdays for your Pet Emergency and Critical Care needs. If your pet is experiencing an emergency or needs after-hours care, please call us at 210-455-4559.
Here are some important tips and information for you in order to ensure a smooth visit.
- Please make sure that you have filled out our PATIENT INFORMATION form before you call us. Once we have your form, we will input your information into our system. Having this form sent to us before you get here allows us to get you checked in swiftly upon arrival.
- We are a partially curbside hospital. Please remain in your vehicle at all times and do not leave the parking lot until you have spoken to a doctor and authorized an estimate and/or treatment plan.
- As soon as a technician is available, they will go out to your vehicle, obtain history and bring your pet inside. In times of inclement weather, a technician may call you to obtain history prior to going out to your vehicle.
- For critical situations, we may ask you to sign an Emergency Authorization Form, which authorizes us to perform emergency medical care to stabilize your pet and states your wishes regarding resuscitative measures.
- Please be aware that we will see your pet on a first-come, first-serve basis, however more critical patients will be seen first.
- We DO have a public restroom available. Please call and let reception know if you need to use our facilities, and they will let you in.
- All pets should be appropriately leashed or in a carrier prior to handoff to a technician. This is especially important with our feline friends, who may become skittish and try to escape when carried. If you do not have a cat carrier, please let the receptionist or technician know and we can provide you with a temporary carrier.
- Any estimate you sign is an agreement to pay up to that amount authorized at time of discharge. We do offer in-house financing payment options including Cherry, Care Credit, and Scratch Pay. 96% of our applicants receive some funding. If you would like more information about care credit or scratch pay, please call us and we will be happy to provide you with information regarding payment options.
Every patient and every client at Night Watch Elite Animal Emergency is extremely important to us. Night Watch Elite Animal Emergency Hospital will provide the most thorough treatment plan to ensure the best possible care for your pet. Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your beloved pets.

Frequently Asked Questions
We know pet emergencies can be stressful and confusing. Our goal is to make the process as clear and simple as possible. Below you’ll find answers to common questions about our emergency care and what to expect when you arrive.
Do I need an appointment?
No. If your pet is experiencing an emergency or needs after-hours veterinary care, please call us and come in.
What happens when I arrive?
Our team evaluates patients according to medical urgency. Critically ill pets are prioritized immediately.
Will my pet be seen immediately?
In general, patients are seen in the order they arrive. More life-threatening cases, however, must take priority over others.
If you feel your pet’s condition is life-threatening, please notify us immediately, and our team will perform an examination without delay. We will contact you personally to discuss findings and arrange a treatment plan. If your pet is in critical condition, you may be asked to sign a release allowing immediate treatment.
Please fill out the Patient Information Form before you arrive or when you arrive so we have all the needed information pertaining to your pet.
How is emergency care different from regular veterinary care?
Will I receive an estimate?
Yes. After evaluating your pet, we’ll discuss recommended diagnostics and treatment and provide an estimate before proceeding whenever the situation allows. We have partnered with Care Credit, Scratch Pay and Cherry to help you with your Pet’s care.
Can I bring my pet in for routine care?
If I leave my pet, when do I pick him/her up?
If the doctor recommends that the pet be hospitalized due to his or her medical condition, you will need to make plans to pick your pet up by 7 AM the next morning for its return home or transfer to your regular veterinarian. If your pet is not picked up by 7 AM we will transfer your pet to a daytime veterinarian for a fee.
As the emergency doctor may be unexpectedly busy, we rely on you to call for periodic progress updates. We will, however, contact you at any hour if your pet’s condition should decline unexpectedly. Please provide us with an accurate phone number that we are able to reach you on in the middle of the night.
